The Five Eyes intelligence sharing network that emerged out of World War II and includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand is the world's most exclusive club.

How did Australia come to be involved, and what was the price of admission?

After decades of silence, the agency responsible for Australia's Five Eyes contribution has begun to finally reveal its secrets.

Join us for an in-person conversation with Dr David Schaefer, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of War Studies at King's College London, who was formerly associated with the official history of the Australian Signals Directorate.

Drawing on recently declassified archival records, David will give an overview of Australia's troubled entry into the world of signals intelligence, and the early Cold War events which continue to shape Australia's intelligence effort today.

We gratefully acknowledge the Walter Mangold Trust Fund for ongoing support of our young members.
