Please note that this event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.

Every generation comes to believe they are living through extraordinarily complex and unprecedented times.

But in 2024, the international environment looks complex indeed.

The two-year mark of Russia's invasion of Ukraine has passed; conflict in the Middle East threatens to ignite into something larger; there is increasing competition with China, and a high-stakes election is due in the US in November.

What are the biggest challenges facing the United States, and the Indo-Pacific? What can policymakers do to address these challenges? What direction will US foreign policy take after the election?

AIIA Victoria in collaboration with the ANU National Security College invites you to join US foreign policy expert Richard Fontaine and AIIA VIC President Richard Iron CMG OBE to discuss these significant questions.
