This event will be held under the Chatham House Rule and is in-person only.

Singapore is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Since independence in 1965, its real per-capita income has grown thirteenfold and on a purchasing power parity basis, its per-capita income is twice Australia's.

It is a global financial and management hub and the port of Singapore is the second busiest in the world. There has only ever been one party in government which plays a directive role in the economy with a strong emphasis on innovation and a highly educated workforce.

Singapore is a significant partner for Australia with strong shared strategic, economic and defence interests regionally and multilaterally. Singapore is important in the context of ASEAN and the broader region as well as globally to Australia. This is reflected in the 2015 Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

AIIA Victoria invites you to join HE Mr Allaster Cox in conversation with former ambassador Mr John Richardson for an open discussion on this fascinating country, the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between Australia and Singapore and its future.
